If you wish to be ’far from the madding crowd’ at Christmas, Burridge House will provide the perfect escape:  splendid isolation, log fire, and plenty of room to spread out after your Christmas Dinner.  The surrounding hills and valleys and the cliff paths are excellent for walking off your excesses – for example an amble down to Duckpool on a crisp winter day is hard to beat.  2005 was our first year in the house and we managed to stay for two weeks over Christmas and had a wonderful time.  We walked for miles, met up with local friends, celebrated a 50th birthday (hence the abundance of wine glasses!) and snoozed by the fire (undisturbed by our son who could play his music and watch his own choice of programmes in the second sitting room).  Heating, bed linen, towels and a basket of logs (further logs available locally) are all included in the price.  If  you are lucky (?) and have snow whilst there please take a photograph – I missed it the last time when apparently it was a true winter wonderland.

For those who do not celebrate or do not recognise Christmas we can make sure that there is no sign of it and you will be in serene isolation away from it all whilst at Burridge.  Please let us know of your wishes.

The dates for your stay at Burridge House over the Christmas/New Year break can be flexible

Preference will be given to guests who want to book a full week although we will reserve a short break and

confirm it if still available on the 1st of December.

Short breaks will generally be three nights over a weekend (3.30pm Friday to 10.30am Monday) or four nights mid-week (3.30pm Monday to 10.30am on Friday). The cost for these will be 70% of the weekly rate.  However, during the summer months and school holidays they will only be available at short notice.

This is a flexible arrangement and you may choose which days you would like to make up your short break as long as it will fit in with full week bookings.  Four night breaks including a Friday or Saturday night will be charged at 80% of the weekly rate; five night breaks will be charged at 90% and six nights at the full weekly rate.  For example you may wish to arrive Wednesday and leave Sunday, which would be 80% of the full cost.  Christmas Day and Boxing Day will be treated as a weekend for short breaks.  Short breaks include all the same facilities as a full week so represent good value for money off season where prices can be as low as £518 for eight people.
